The year is coming to an end and that means lots of fun things for 2015 are already being showcased and released! It seems like clock work each year that we anxiously await the revel of Pantone’s Color of the Year. There’s always a debate as to what the color will be and if we have already seen it on the runway or not, but this year they did not disappoint. Pantone revealed that their 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala, a reddish-brown shade. It’s not quite burgundy or adobe clay, more of an updated and bold neutral red-brown. Pantone describes Marsala as, a unifying element, a tasteful hue, and a hearty yet stylish tone.
As in the past with this year’s Radiant Orchid and 2013’s Emerald Green, Marsala has already been spotted on the spring 2015 runways according to WSJ. With the return of neutrals back on the runway it has been seen for likes of Louis Vuitton and Dries Van Noten.
Here’s what Pantone has to say about Marsala:
Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.
