It’s official- pastels are back in a big way.
Each year, everyone in the fashion and design industry eagerly awaits the announcement by the color experts at Pantone as to which hues will color their world. Pantone never disappoints, and this year the company has decided to give us more than we bargained for: for the first time ever, not one, but two colors of the year! The color authority ruled two baby-hued pastels would dominate the year, rose quartz and serenity. Rose quartz, as you can imagine, is a soft pale pink while serenity is a baby blue.
"Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure," Pantone says on its website. "Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times." Basically, Pantone is telling us to chill out, and we have to agree with them! These two colors that will dominate 2016 will serve as a guide for the fashion industry, which uses the colors in forthcoming trends in clothes, home décor and everything in between. You can be sure that these twin shades will find their way to our POSH tabletops.
If you're wondering how to incorporate these spring-like shades into your wardrobe and tabletop, Pantone is here to help. The company suggests pairing these shades with silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle. You can also check out our moodboard (link will go here) on more suggestions on how to use this perfectly pastel duo.
