Embrace the energetic shift on a new season with a few of our favorite Dallas tastemakers.
For Texans, we know Fall as the delightful emergence of society season. Soirees abound as cooler weather offers a reprieve from summer’s long and lazy sojourn. Holiday parties begin booking and October weddings begin blooming. And in the midst of these hectic schedules, our creative spirit once again flourishes as we begin purposefully setting the table for celebrated gatherings, big and small.
To this degree: It’s always a joy for us to see what our friends decide to bring to the table in the designer series. These six designers master the art of gathering by setting a finely tuned tablescape with just the right amount of drama to elevate the evening. You can summarize the current approach to the tabletop in this seasonal remix as a rejuvenating return to you. There is no one trend taking centerstage; rather, the modus operandi appears to resonate with an authentic celebration of the comforts, luxuries, and elegance that exudes from signature style. These tablescapes invite us into the creative minds and emotions of each planner with unbridled enthusiasm and warmth. And as we always say, life is too short not to break out the fine china.
NAME TO KNOW: Kirstin Rose Events
If there is one rule to live by, it is certainly that life is far too short to throw bad parties. Bespoke, bejeweled, beloved - those are the qualities we look for in a party and a planner. Starry-eyed sentiments that happen to perfectly align with Kirstin Rose Godat, lead planner of Kirstin Rose Events. Her namesake boutique coordination firm designs standout life events to sublime effect. There are no cookie-cutter weddings, only stunning soirées with intentional attention to detail, both aesthetically and organizationally. And we're not going to lie here - the whole team lets out a squeal when we finally get to see how her showroom room prototypes reflect those visionary parties once the photo galleries begin rolling in.
For a little girl enamored with the art of the party since watching Father of the Bride, we’d say she has more than left her own magnificent mark on an industry we love. Just one look at her IG will have you swooning to renew your vows or at the very least call the girls over for a festive fete. It takes an amazing eye for detail and an innate sense of style to infuse a client's personality into an event. Kirstin's themes are always on-point, never cliche. We are always excited to be at the table when she comes to play. Thank you, Kirstin, for sharing the table with us. Without further adieu, let’s spin some plates.
TABLE TALK
First things first, tell us a bit about yourself for someone who may not be familiar.
I am Kirstin Godat, owner and lead planner of Kirstin Rose Events. My love for event planning started many moons ago when I fell in love with Franck from Father of the Bride. I worked for a large event design and production company and then a smaller boutique planning coming before going out on my own in 2017. I have always been enamored by love stories and the art of hosting a party and love working with clients to bring their love stories and their vision to life.
How do you let a table tell a story?
I have a love affair with bold colors and mixed patterns. It allows for the host’s personality to come to life. Also, details details details! What little surprises can you include that add just a splash of personality? For example, butterflies make my heart sing and my closest family and friends know that. By adding a small butterfly detail on a menu or place card or by selecting Posh’s butterfly dinner plates, or by adding a little butterfly embroidered napkin, the setting feels like an extension of my personality.
What inspired this design?
With this table design, we have some traditional fall and Thanksgiving colors but with a modern twist. Deep magentas and rust instead of burgundy or red, emerald and turquoise instead of traditional forest green. The tobacco leaf dinner plate was the inspiration behind this table and all the colors are included in its beautiful, bold design.
What is your favorite piece on this table and why?
I absolutely LOVE the tobacco leaf dinner plate. It’s the star of the show and was the jumping-off point for this table design. I love the bold color and dramatic design. I also appreciate how versatile this plate is. It can be used for multiple occasions and parties by focusing on the various colors in the plate design. A winner all around!!
Who would you want to bring to this table?
Dream world? Kacey Musgraves.
Reality? My family. Rarely are we all able to sit down and enjoy a lovely meal together. We are always on the go! So it would be a treat to have everyone gathered around this table.
Best piece of hosting advice?
Make every decision with your guests’ perspectives in mind. From the moment they enter your door to the second they drive away, they should feel comfortable and relaxed. I love adding small conversation starters at my place settings - nothing like a lottery scratch-off to get the party started!
The upcoming event you’re excited about?
I have a few legacy clients coming up which always make me so happy. Working with families for their second (or third!) daughter’s wedding is always a treat. So grateful for my wonderful clients who continue to trust me with their family’s special days.
My biggest source of inspiration:
My mom
Dream collaborator:
The one and only Mrs. Alice / @mrsaliceshop
The song that always makes the playlist:
Rainbow - Kacey Musgraves
What do you most look forward to this year?
My daughter’s first birthday (we share a birthday!)

THE CLOSE UP
Tablescape Vibe:
Live generously and mirror the glistening glam of the season. Think engaging layers accessorized to the max with a perfect touch of personality.
Palette + Pattern
She’s an icon. Ah, the Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf–to know her is to love her, forever and ever, amen. Double the pleasure with the Mottahedeh Blue Lace and you have traditional layering at its finest. Both beauties rest atop copper chargers and richly textured velvet jewel tones for a seasonal vibe shift that is the oh-so-chic way to play around with a holiday dinner without getting into predictable themes. Excuse us while we swoon.
Conversation Piece:
Say more with outstanding glassware with character. Smoke Glass offers brings a hint of toasty winter blues while the copper mug offers a warm embrace (perfect for a seasonal spiced cider or a hot toddy, obviously). While we certainly have an affinity for the POSH pieces, we adore the Ellis Hill monogrammed napkins with signature crests, fonts, and colors for customizing each place setting.
Table + Chair:
An artistic eye understands there are trends and then there are staples. Chiavari chairs simply have staying power. And like all classics, they pull up nicely to the party but are never afraid to have a good time.
Dress Up:
Bold colors, yummy textures, and mixed textures are par for the course. A digital skip over to The Avenue or The Nat Note is a must for fun prints and stylish finds. And speaking of chic staples, Miron Crosby boots have surpassed trend status into true staying power, making them a natural fit for kicking up your heels around this Southern table. Just add a little Kacey Musgrave to the playlist and you’ve set the stage (and the mood).
