Southern Comfort: Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ
There are a few Southern traditions that always ring true when the Fourth of July rolls around–stars, stripes, and backyard barbeque. Just like setting the table is far from child’s play for us, holiday barbecues are hardly beginner’s sports in our neck of the woods. Delicious, gourmet meats are the pride of Texas menus, and they are always included at parties for our nearest and dearest over the holidays. Fortunately for DFW, seasoned Chef Kent Rathbun, long known for his smoked meats and flavorful cuisines at his restaurants Imoto, Shinsei, Lovers Seafood, and Republic Texas Tavern, has clients more than covered with Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ.
Along with partner and long-time friend Todd Boren and grillmaster Mark Schorlemer, this curbside pop-up concept was the optimistic pivot needed during the COVID-era when Rathbun’s brick-and-mortar concepts were required to close. While pop-up concepts were nothing new, Curbside BBQ met high demand and discerning palates in spades with its custom-built food trailer and four specialty smokers. Online orders are placed for week-end pick up at specific Dallas locations, while onsite catering is offered to residential and commercial locations across DFW. Holy smokes, ya’ll. Who doesn’t want fresh BBQ delivered from one of our favorite local chefs?!
Holy Smokes
Perfectly smoked and grilled prime proteins along with delicious sides with a pre-order pickup? Well, you know we love an easy setup and strike down, so we’re all in. Just look for the smoke rings or head over to Republic Texas this weekend so you can be the hero from the 4th through the end of football season. (Details here.)
ORDER BBQ for JULY 4th ONLINE:
Pickup at Republic Texas from 12-4PM Friday, July 2nd
Pickup at Lovers Seafood & Market from 2-5PM on Sunday, July 4th
Now, you don’t have to take our word for it, but the common consensus is the new smokehouse brisket smoker is a major crowd-pleaser. Showing up as the guest? Rathbun also offers a BBQ gift basket with specialty Rathbun Family Rub and spices, gourmet BBQ sauce, and pickles. (You can’t forget the pickles!)
Lawn Enthusiast
VIBE: Now that you have the BBQ covered, might we suggest something other than paper plates for diving into a Fourth of July feast. Our heirloom hues of Blue + White China or Mottahedeh Blue Lace are beautiful standards for backyard Americana traditions and perfectly served portions. Coupe China and Arte Italica are easy and stylish winners for at ease, al fresco dinners on the veranda.
SIP! SIP! While beers are nearly always on the menu when it comes to backyards and BBQ, an assortment of colorful specialty glassware sets the bar for cocktail mixing enthusiasts and the ever-present return of Ranch Water. Cheers to freedoms, great food, and an evening with the family.
ACCENTS: Besides the BBQ Sauce and sparklers you mean? We love all the candlelit offerings for accenting your evening well past sunset from Party! Dallas and Party Dallas Rentals.
DRESS FOR THE OCCASION: It's a toss-up! We're either going big and glam (because life is too short to be boring) by pulling a page from the ever-stylish Jason Valdivia OR elevating our traditional wardrobe like a modern-day Carolyn Bessette Kennedy à la our favorite style-setter (and well-themed party hostess) Bradley Agather Means.
