If there is one thing that signifies the ending of summer in the Hamptons it is most certainly the Hampton Classic Horse Show. Held over Labor Day weekend each year in Southhampton, New York it is one of the biggest social events of the Hamptons scene, and most importantly, signifying the end of the summer season. This Grand Prix show jumping type event is also one of the biggest shows of the season drawing riders and horses from all over including Olympic level athletes and trainers. Since its true beginning in 1976 the 5-day show invites thousands of spectators to watch the competitions and enjoy the shopping and parties. As a result of being one of the most exciting parties of the Hamptons season attention is drawn from national and worldwide publications and the event is frequented by celebrity guests from television, music, fashion and entertainment industry professionals. In a league and class of its own according to people in the horseshow world and those who aren’t, The Classic is one event you don’t want to miss!
One of the best parts of the Hampton Classic is the exclusive VIP tent that holds 3,000 people at capacity. While white coat waiters walk around making sure VIP guests are treated with nothing but the best, spectators watch the classes that are going on in the adjacent arenas with the show concluding on Sunday with the prestigious Grand Prix. The Classic is the best and most prestigious way to end the summer for both spectators and riders amidst the most fashionable crowd there is.
