Named one of the world’s 50 best restaurants, El Cellar de Can Roca, is a local and family owned restaurant based in Girona of the state Catalonia in Spain. From its humble beginning in 1986, brothers Joan, Josep and Jordi along side with their parents have built a restaurant that now has three Michelin stars and has been on the world’s 50 best restaurants list for a decade, reaching number one just last year. That’s one heck of a reputation and resume! Groomed from a young age to be great chefs and restaurateurs, the trio has proved to be outstanding not only on their own as chefs, but all together. And when they decided to grace us in Dallas with their exquisite foods and culture we were extremely excited that we got to be a part of such an amazing event.
This year the three Roca brothers along with twenty four of their trained chefs decided to pack up and go on a tour around the world sharing their talents, food and culture. Making their way to the United States to host dinners in Houston and Dallas and then off to Mexico to the cities of Monterrey and Mexico City before heading even more south to Botoga, Colombia and Lima, Peru. This trio had quite an evening up their sleeves for their guests at the beautiful Rachofsky House in Preston Hollow. From a multiple course meal with exquisite wines to a presentation of food that would make any chef melt, the Roca brothers were quite impressive and lived up to their reputation and restaurant standards.
While white gloved servers passed around appetizers, the brothers prepared a meal with traditional recipes from their restaurant. The eight courses brought about items including soups, small bites and fresh local seasonal ingredients. The food was matched with amazing wines and aromas that complimented the dishes. From intricate hand detailed bites to the presentation, this intimate dinner party was one for the ages.
As the world’s 50 best restaurant list states “the complementary skills of the Roca brothers results in hospitality at its finest.”
